Hi all - I am trying to incorporate a Comments section in the Town Web Site where anyome in Longridge - or ex-Longriders anywhere in the world - can leave brief comments. CommentsChris Parkinson 03/12/2008 06:57
I am writing a second entry to see what happens. Chris Parkinson 03/12/2008 07:02
Looks like it will now allow simple comments - but just in one long sequential string. 04/24/2008 02:29
Hi You don't appear to have holidays in the surrounding district included. I know that the Forest of Bowland have festival in June. So perhaps a link to them would be good. I have just one cottage.I try to encourage people to shop in longridge and the surrounding area, I also provide information about where to source a butcher, fresh vedg, bakers and also where to get a coffee etc when shopping Any way I think Longridge is a becoming a very vibrant town.just needs marketing. 04/25/2008 02:38
The Longridge Town website is a great idea and long overdue. Well Done. I do however feel that the site needs and Arts and Culture section. There are quite a few visual artists living and working in Longridge as well as people from a performing arts background. I myself am a visual artist and would like the town site to have a link to my website www.cmartanddesignservices.co.uk My eldest son is a musician and would like the town site to provide a link to his band's site www.myspace.com/buickmckaneuk keep up the good work and hope the site continues to develop. Trying to find cinema times for the longridge theatre. Not sure if these are on the website but I was unable to find them. Thought it might be a good idea to have them on here. Paul 10/10/2010 10:28
betty: The Palace? It's always 7:30pm start. If it isn't it will be listed on the website. Gavin Hopcraft 11/15/2010 03:38
County falls silent to mark Remembrance Day at 11am except Longridge who think its better to change the time to 10:45am ! 12/03/2010 13:13

Just chanced on Longridge website.. to see a photo of Berry Lane with, on right-hand side, The Manse. We arrived there about 70 years ago to stay with Rev & Mrs Haigh. Believe there are still many living in and around Longridge who will remember The Twins! Was doing a Google search for a Carole 06/04/2011 06:48
In reply to Wilf, as above, The Manse is now an Indian restaurant. Wilf Hodgkinson 06/08/2011 03:47
Thanks Carole. I found the website for the restaurant. We were followed at the Manse by the Matthews sisters neic neices of Lily Haigh. Does anyone rember them? One of the teachers was Miss Singer... I believe she lived to over 100. miguel 06/10/2011 10:10

I wondered if the town council was aware of any movement regarding the development of the old childrens home and adjoining land at the bottom of Barnacre Road. I believe the home was sold some time ago and am aware that the owner of the adjoining land is trying to get planning permission for residential development. The land and home are becoming an eyesore, overgrown and neglected. Fly tipping has begun on the land and the home has lost most windows at the rear allowing free access to the building, which is happening on a frequent basis. Families attending Barnacre Road Primary School have to pass this every day, anyone frequenting Sainsburys, Longridge residents or visitors, cannot fail to notice and not to leave out the residents of Barnacre Road, Hesketh Road and Nateby Close who have to put up with this overgrown mess daily. I have been made aware that some homeowners on these roads, myself and family included, feel ashamed to have people visit because of what they have to pass. The newly developed residential home promised good things for this area, sadly it has not turned out that way. I would be grateful if the town council were able to find out what the future holds for this area. Vicky 02/07/2012 09:59
You haven't got Longridge C.E Pre-School listed under your schools section. 03/08/2012 12:32
I have the same problem as Melanie above.. My partner Julia and I run Cuban Salsa dancing classes every Monday evening at the Conservative Club on Berry Lane. I'd like to be listed on your website but it's not really clear how or who to contact. Details of our classes are on www.sweetsalsa.co.uk or telephone 07763 207856. Everyone is welcome.
