About this Web Site

Background

The Town Council has for some time wanted to establish a Web site for the town. It has been developed by Councillor Chris Parkinson in a free-to-use web-based product called Weebly.

The Town Council want this web site to be a genuinely useful and 'active' community place to visit. Where people can feel confident that they are going to find valuable and current information on anything relating to Longridge.

Please feel free to provide comment and feedback at any time.

Requirements for Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act requires the Council to provide basic information on how it operates and the information available relating to Council activities. These are provided in 'The Town Council's Work.'

Linking to other Web sites

We especially want to be sure we link to existing web sites of Longridge organisations and businesses. If your web site has a What's New page then we will link from here to your What's New page - so it will always be current. We will also link to your main Web site in the relevant main Page on here e.g. Schools, Churches, Eating Out etc.

Do you need a Web site for your organisation?

If your organisation or company doesn't have a Web site - don't worry! Chris can show you how to develop one of your own - even if it is only one page - using Weebly (also no charge!) - the same web-based software used to develop this site. This Web site will then link to your new Web site. Contact him through the Council offices.

Probable process for updating the What's New and What's On pages

Other than any automatic links to the What's New Pages of individual Web sites the Town Council, at its bi-weekly meeting will agree on items that should be given prominence on the What's New and What's On pages.
